WETLAND DESIGN AND RESTORATION

ONLINE COURSE

January 16 – May 10, 2018

The Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Division of Natural Areas is offering an online course from January 16 to May 10, 2018 titled Wetland Design and Restoration that is taught by Thomas R. Biebighauser. Participants will learn how to design and restore naturally appearing and functioning wetlands. The detailed units will explain the values of wetlands, how wetlands were drained, factors affecting site selection for restoration, techniques for construction, and how damaged wetlands can be repaired. The cost of this online course is $1,125. The Wetland Design and Restoration course is available to take for college credit as undergraduate or graduate level through the EKU Department of Biological Sciences. For participants that do not enroll for course credit through EKU, certificates of completion will be provided.

WETLAND DESIGN AND RESTORATION TECHNIQUES

FIELD COURSE

May 21-25, 2018

The Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Division of Natural Areas is offering a Wetland Design and Restoration Techniques Field Course from May 21-25, 2018. Participants will receive hands-on training in how to design, restore, construct, maintain, and plant wetlands. The course will be based at Maywoods Environmental and Educational Laboratory near Richmond, KY. The training will be taught primarily by Tom Biebighauser with the assistance of Dr. Stephen Richter. Participants will be allowed to reside in the lodge at Maywoods during the Wetland Design and Restoration Techniques workshop free of charge. The cost of this course is $750.
